that all depends on whether someone is willing to invest all their time and energy on reverse engineering such a truly horrible game. are you?

there are no current plans, no.

scummvm will never support simon 3d.
ResidualVM however if someone implement it but chances are low.

Simon the Sorcerer 3D uses a licensed game engine (NetImmerse 3D), so the source code could never be provided by Adventure Soft.

If someone attempted to reverse engineer the game, I expect they could be threatened with legal action, considering the game engine is still be used for many games.

Personally I have no interest in Simon the Sorcerer 3D, although I expanded the AGOS game engine in ScummVM to cover all possible games.

These guys don't have problem with that, the reimplentation project of the Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, OpenMW, reverse-engineering the NetImmerse 3D that is: http://openmw.sourceforge.net/jaws/

It sort of relates to a thread on the ScummVM forums at the moment. That companies are less likely to have a problem with creating an open source interpreter, but will be down on you like a ton of bricks if you try to make an open source sdk for their engine.
